THE VINEYARD
This is our second vintage of old-vine Grenache, sourced from a beautiful block we call 'The Springs' due to its location in the renowned subregion of Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale. The vineyard covers 2 hectares, with an elevation of 136m. The site is home to 75-year-old bush vine Grenache, deeply rooted in sandy soils typical of this esteemed subregion. This vineyard is sustainably certified and tendered by hand throughout the season.

WINEMAKING
The fruit was hand-picked on March 18th. It was open-fermented using 25% whole bunches and left on the skins for 10 days to achieve the optimum balance between flavour and tannin extraction. The wine was matured on lees in seasoned French Puncheons for 7 months prior to bottling in November 2024.

TASTING NOTE
Bright and lifted with floral notes coupled with redcurrants, strawberry, crushed raspberries, and underlying red licorice and white pepper. Sourced from old vines on sandy soils in Blewitt Springs, the wine is vibrant and pure with great texture and minerality, showcasing fine, silky tannins and great fruit length and tension.

“From a two-hectare 76-year-old estate block in Blewitt Springs on typically deep sands. This was fermented with 25% whole bunches, then matured in older French puncheons for seven months. Those sandy soils are writ large on the nose, which is so fragrantly lifted and expressly red fruited and floral scented. It would be easy to get carried away and be seduced by that alone, but there’s a serious pulse to this, too, with a thread of fine silty tannin and a seasoning of darker spices. In short, it has oodles of charm equalled by cool composure and savoury refinement. It’s very good.”
