Renowned Canadian designer Arnold Scaasi (1931-2015) made extravagant clothing for many of the country’s most famous women, including First Ladies, actresses and socialites. The Scaasi Boutique label, of which this dress is a beautiful example, was started in 1984. It was a top quality ready-to-wear line that was beautifully made and quite expensive. This particular Scaasi Boutique dress has a velvet bodice with a dropped waist and flattering, off-the-shoulder neckline. The skirt is a heavy satin with a matte finish that is swagged to the left hip and finished with two bows. Hidden inside the pleated sleeves are elastic straps that secure the dress to one's upper arms. Closure is with a back zipper. This dress was probably made in the early 1990s. Labeled size 6, but his is a vintage size, so it might vary from a modern size 6. Please refer to the measurements for additional guidance regarding size.
