Dianthus gratianopolitanus 'Firewitch' (Cheddar Pink), an evergreen perennial with a rich, enticing clove aroma, produces a profusion of beautiful, purplish-pink, tiny flowers with frilled petals on wiry stems. They emerge from tufted mounds of green, blue-gray, silvery foliage in the middle to end of spring and produce so many flowers that they practically cover the plant. If the plant is consistently deadheaded, there will be some random rebloom throughout the summer and fall. This Cheddar Pink cultivar is a great ground cover or rock garden plant because it's simple to grow and great for adding a pop of color to the landscape. Heat or humidity have no effect on it.
