Origin
The Crassula ovata, also known as the Money Tree, originates from the southern regions of Africa. More specifically, the areas of Mozambique and the eastern provinces of South Africa. It is in these environments where the plant feels most at home, and therefore has the ability to survive under extreme drought conditions.
Characteristics
The Crassula ovata is an evergreen plant that belongs to the succulent family. It is characterised by its thick, woody trunk and bright green, fleshy leaves that grow in pairs opposite each other. These leaves are oval in shape and often have red edges when exposed to high light levels. The plant produces flowers during the winter months; these flowers are usually white or pink in colour and hang in clusters at the ends of the branches.
