Copper alloy conductor provides excellent sparking with a resistance of less than 50 Ω. One end has a 90 degree bent terminal (MSD logo) and the other has a HEI end (90 degrees) to fit into the MSD distributor wire retainer. Ferromagnetic impregnated core creates an effective EMI choke. 40 feet of conductor wrapped around 1 foot of wire for high EMI suppression. The conductor core is made of DuPont Kevlar material to improve tensile strength. The durable outer sleeve is a proprietary compound that resists high heat and abrasion. Stainless steel terminals have dual crimp tabs that grip the wire conductor and outer jacket separately.

MSD 8.5 mm superconductor wire is a performance wire. Designed from the inside out, the 8.5 mm provides everything you need in a wire. Incredibly low resistance without electronic interference. To achieve this, we use copper alloy conductors because of their superior voltage carrying capacity. Low resistance results in less loss of spark energy reaching the spark plug. The conductor is wrapped very tightly around a special central core. Over 40 feet of conductor is wrapped in 1 foot of plug wire, so it's very tight. This winding procedure, combined with a ferromagnetic impregnated center core, creates a highly effective electromagnetic interference (EMI) choke.
